Fort Munro is called Nimroo in the local Balochi language, and was once known as Thal, a Balochi word meaning "plains". The people of Fort Munro are nomads, especially of the Leghari tribe. Many are bilingual, speaking Balochi (called Sulemani locally) and Saraiki.
